An aged protestor, who seemed very unhappy with the illegal mining menace, joined the #SayNoToGalamsey protest to air her grievances.
According to Naa Densua, she felt compelled to join the fight because there would be nothing left for the next generation as result of the degradation the canker also known as 'galamsey' has caused to the environment.
She showed the JoyNews team a bottle containing a sample of polluted water, which she said was from the Pra River while shouting, "Who will drink? Who will drink?"
When asked why she joined the protest despite her advanced age, she explained that the fight was not about her but for her grandchildren.
The woman, visibly annoyed by the illegal mining, said, “Because my grandchildren will drink this in two years' time if I don’t help put a stop to galamsey. It has to end. I don’t want my grandchildren to drink this. I want clean water today, not tomorrow.”

“It has gone on for too long. It has to end. Galamsey, no more,” she said.
She also said that the menace has gone on for far too long and that this was one of the best opportunities to speak truth to power.
Reacting to the claim that the government was working around the clock to resolve the issue, she asked, raising her voice, "They’re doing what? We are the ones here; where is the government?
"The government should come and tell us what it's doing. When we understand and see the action, then we will know what is what. No action, we will not go home. We will be here three days.”
