The Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Akatsi North, Abraham Ahiabu, has denied claims of his arrest and investigation in connection with the possession of dummy ballot papers.
The Ghana Immigration Service, in a statement dated December 5, 2024, reported the interception of three booklets of dummy ballot papers, each containing 1,000 sheets, at Xevi, an unapproved route in the Ave Havi area.
The materials were allegedly being transported to Togo.
According to the report, Mr Ahiabu was handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation, and the seized dummy ballot papers were sent to the Akatsi North District Electoral Commission office for verification.
However, in his response, Mr Ahiabu clarified that while he was questioned by the police, he was not under investigation for any wrongdoing.
He described the statement by the Immigration Service as a calculated effort to justify border closures in the Volta region ahead of the December 7, elections.
