A new judge is expected to take over the hearing of the alleged four kidnappers of the two Canadian girls in Kumasi.
In an interview with GNA, the former judge, Mr. Justice George Buadi, revealed his mandate which is expected to end in November has necessitated the need for a new judge for the case.
Mr Buadi said that although he is set to leave, it would not be out of order for him to give directions in the matter.
Eight persons were first accused of allegedly kidnapping two Canadian girls in Kumasi. However, the Attorney General’s office, in October, dropped charges against four of the persons accused.
Senior State Attorney, Hilda Craig told an Accra High court that the move follows a review of the docket prepared by investigators, Joy News’ Joseph Ackah-Blay, reported.
These four included Seidu Abubakar aka Mba, Abdul Nasir, Safiano Abubar and Abdul Rahman Suliemana aka Wofa.
The other four suspects Sampson Aghalor aka Romeo, a 27-year-old computer engineer, Elvis Ojiyorwe, a 27-year-old businessman, Jeff Omarsa a 28-year-old Tiler, all Nigerians and Yusif Yakubu a Ghanaian resident in Kumasi, have denied the charges against them.
The four have been charged with two counts of conspiracy to wit kidnapping, and kidnapping, and has been remanded into custody.
Mr Buadi added that he has directed the prosecution to disclose all documents including the charge sheet, facts and any other evidence they intended to rely on.
According to the court, the disclosures should be made available to the defence counsels and the accused persons by November 14.
The case has however been adjourned to November 21.
