A tragic road accident at Akutuase, a town near Agogo in the Ashanti Region, on Monday evening has claimed six lives.

Seven others are in critical condition and are receiving treatment at the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital, reports Luv FM’s Erastus Asare-Donkor.

Eyewitnesses told police a KIA truck loaded with yam collided head-on with a Ford transit passenger bus.

The driver of the Ford vehicle and five others on the same bus died on the spot, police said.

Three of the dead have been identified by the police: Blessing Cudjoe, a student of the Presbyterian University College Agogo; Evelyn Dwomoh and Herspe Appiah both students of the Presbyterian Teacher Training College Agogo.

Konongo Divisional Police Commander, Supt Ohene Boadi Bossman, told Erastus information they have gathered indicate the KIA truck was overtaking another vehicle at a spot close to Akutuase Junction when it collided head-on with the passenger bus.
