The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has reaffirmed its commitment to timely payment of service providers by disbursing nearly GH¢400 million in vetted claims between December 2025 and January 2026.
According to a statement issued by the NHIA’s Finance Directorate, the payments cover claims submitted by healthcare providers in the previous year and duly vetted by the Authority.
In total, GH¢392,031,851.26 was reimbursed to health facilities for services rendered to members of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
In December 2025, the Authority paid GH¢301,658,338.13 in claims, followed by a further GH¢90,373,513.13 in January 2026.

The majority of the funds were directed to public and private health facilities, which together accounted for approximately 80.55 per cent of the total payments, while mission facilities received the remaining 19.45 per cent.
Public health facilities were paid GH¢157,164,301.62, private facilities GH¢158,630,317.29, and mission facilities GH¢76,237,232.35.
The NHIA emphasised that these payments reflect its determination to support healthcare providers in delivering quality services to NHIS members across the country.
"The payments reflect the Authority's resolve to promptly pay claims to enable healthcare providers to continue delivering quality services to NHIS members across the country," the statement concluded.
