What happens when a school is designed not as a collection of departments, but as a living system where every component supports the next? That question shaped the virtual discussion with the renowned Nigerian Educator, Bolanle Akin-Taiwo, whose education model proposes exactly that transformation.
As the founder of the leading institution, The Elect Crèche group of schools in Nigeria, Akin-Taiwo has gone above and beyond to amplify the need for a revolution in the existing education system in the 21st century. Her invention outlines an operational structure in which inclusion, health-conscious learning practices, STEM exposure, educator development, and industry engagement are interconnected rather than sequential. Instead of treating special education, academic rigour, and career readiness as separate initiatives, sheorganisess them within a synchronised framework.
Central to the model is coordinated student mapping. Academic progress, behavioural indicators, and developmental needs are evaluated collectively, shapingpersonalisedd learning pathways that integrate assistive technologies and therapeutic supports directly into mainstream classrooms. This prevents fragmentation and promotes consistent engagement across diverse learning profiles.
Similarly, MyJoy Ghana, in its Innovation Spotlight series, characterised her work as:
A forward-looking, inclusive education system that bridges learning, behavioural health, and workforce preparation in a way rarely seen in emerging education models.
In her final remark, Akin-Taiwo contended that “Innovation is embedded through applied STEM modules that connect theoretical knowledge with real-world contexts.
Industry collaboration ensures that skill development aligns with evolving economic demands, while structured teacher training sustains inclusive and adaptive instruction”.
She therefore calls for collaboration with political leaders, institutions, entrepreneurs, and advocates of inclusive education to advance this initiative and make the world a better place.
It was clear that Bolanle Akin-Taiwo’s invention advances a unified educational design, one where community, classroom, and career preparation function as interdependent elements within a cohesive ecosystem.
