The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has announced that it will play a central role in implementing the government's Free Tertiary Education for Persons with Disabilities Policy, by facilitating the payment of full fees for all eligible students with disabilities enrolled in public tertiary institutions.
In a statement issued by the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), public tertiary institutions were directed to admit students with disabilities without demanding fees, as the government will absorb the full cost through the new policy framework.
The SLTF explained that it will facilitate the payment of full fees for all verified students with disabilities once the necessary data is received from the respective institutions.

The Fund, which operates under the Ministry of Education, reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that students with disabilities have equitable access to quality tertiary education.
“The SLTF, under the Ministry of Education, is committed to ensuring that students with disabilities have access to quality tertiary education, and we appreciate the cooperation of public tertiary institutions in implementing this policy,” the statement read.
The initiative forms part of the government’s broader agenda to promote inclusive education and eliminate financial barriers that hinder persons with disabilities from pursuing higher education.
The SLTF urged all public tertiary institutions to comply fully with the directive and support the smooth rollout of the policy, which is expected to enhance educational opportunities and empowerment for persons with disabilities nationwide.
