The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of the North East Region for their overwhelming support during the 2024 general election.

In what was a challenging election for the party—marked by significant voter apathy among its traditional support base and a loss of over two million votes nationwide—the North East Region stood out as a notable exception. As the home region of the NPP’s 2024 Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, it was the only region where the party recorded a growth in votes.

The party conveyed its appreciation during a "Thank You Tour" of the region on Tuesday, praising the area's exceptional contribution.

Speaking on behalf of the National Chairman, National Vice Chairman Alhaji Massaudu acknowledged the region’s unwavering support:
“On behalf of the National Chairman and our party, I want to thank you for the way you supported and voted for us in the 2024 election,” he said.
“We truly appreciate your support and urge you to continue to stand with us as we work towards victory in the next election,” he added.

The party’s Deputy General Secretary also echoed the sentiment, reiterating appreciation for the region’s support.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s 2024 Presidential Candidate, expressed his profound gratitude to the chiefs and people of the North East Region for their loyalty and strong backing—both for him personally and for the party's parliamentary candidates.

“This is the only region that appreciated in votes in a very difficult election for our party, and on my own behalf and on behalf of the NPP, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your massive support,” Dr. Bawumia said.

“Just as I have expressed our gratitude to stakeholders across the country, I want to extend the same to all of you here in the North East Region for your unwavering support.”

He concluded with a message of hope and unity:
“God’s time is always the best. Let us continue to work hard together to strengthen the NPP and position ourselves for victory in 2028.”
