The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has paid glowing tribute to the late Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, describing him as “utterly fearless” and more than a political strategist, whose dedication to the party and the nation was unwavering.
Delivering the tribute on behalf of the party at an interdenominational state funeral on Friday, August 15, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey reflected on Dr Omane Boamah’s legacy of service, describing him as a leader who combined courage with a deep sense of purpose.
Dr Omane Boamah was among eight people who died in a military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6.

Also on board were Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, former parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East Samuel Aboagye, NDC Vice Chairman Dr Samuel Sarpong, and Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed.
The crew members who perished were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
The funeral brought together political leaders, clergy, security personnel, and members of the public to honour the memory of the fallen, whose service and sacrifices have left an indelible mark on Ghana’s history.
