The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed disappointment at the report of the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) on the latter's investigations into alleged corrupt acts on the part of former Minister of State, Charles Adu Boahen.
The NDC deems the OSP's conclusion that it is unable to prosecute the former Minister of State at the Finance Ministry because the act of influence peddling is not codified as a corruption offence in Ghana.
The party says the OSP's actions ammount to a cover-up and should be rejected by Ghanaians.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 31, and signed by the National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC argues that Adu Boahen's actions, as highlighted by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye P.I. agency, amounted to extortion, a clear violation of the nation's laws.
The party has declared that should it regain power in the 2024 general elections, it will initiate criminal proceedings in this matter, asserting that such misconduct cannot go unpunished.
"The conduct of Charles Adu Boahen constitutes corruption of monumental proportions and must not go unpunished."

"We wish to serve notice that the next NDC government shall institute criminal investigations into this matter with the objective of prosecuting all those found culpable."
Meanwhile, the party has called on the OSP to reconsider its report, which suggests that the former minister only engaged in influence peddling, as this has the potential to erode public confidence in the Office of the Special Prosecutor if not promptly reviewed.

“The report smacks of a coverup and has the potential to dampen public confidence in the Office of Special Prosecutor if not reviewed immediately.”
Following the Tiger Eye PI documentary, Mr. Boahen was relieved of his post by President Akufo-Addo, who also referred the matter to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for investigation.
