The Public Accounts Committee (PAC), in collaboration with the Auditor-General’s Department, has announced the recovery of more than GH¢12.9 billion in misappropriated public funds.
In recent weeks, the Committee has engaged officials from various ministries, departments, and agencies to address infractions highlighted in the 2024 Auditor-General’s Report.
Chairperson of the Committee, Abena Osei-Asare, speaking on Wednesday, October 1, attributed the substantial recovery to the Committee’s close partnership with the Auditor-General’s Office.
She emphasised that promoting accountability remains a central priority of their work.
“One thing I am clear about is that what we are doing is yielding positive results. We have a report we will look at. Per the work of the Public Accounts Committee, and with the support of the Auditor-General, we have been able to retrieve GH¢12.9 billion. There is a whole report on that which we will be sharing with the public at the right time,” she said.
The Committee is scheduled to resume its sittings on October 27, 2025.
