Parents in the Nkwanta South municipality of the Oti Region have welcome the decision of the Education Service to reopen schools after several weeks of closure due to inter-tribal conflict in the area.
Over 30 public schools were forced to temporarily close down in November 2023 after the area witnessed series of conflicts.
Speaking to Adom News' Obrempongba Owusu, some parents noted that the decision by GES for the children to return to classroom is welcomed.

They further pledged to collaborate with the teachers and other stakeholders to ensure the safety of both students and teachers while in schools.
Management of Oti Regional Education Directorate on the advice of the Oti Regional Coordinating Council ORCC and in consultation with the Director General of the Education Service (GES) have directed both basic and second cycle institutions to return to class for the continuation of academic work following the break prompted by the recent tribal conflict in the Nkwanta South municipality.
The Regional Education Directorate said it’s closely coordinating with the ORCC to monitor the situation in Nkwanta township and ensure the safety of both learners and teachers.
