Ghana's Harry Stacey and Joselle Mensah will represent the country at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris via wild card entries.
World Aquatics awarded the slots to the two budding talents following their impressive performances in recent months, particularly at the 2023 African Games.
Abeku Jackson, who was tipped to qualify for the global showpiece after winning the country’s only two medals at the African Games, was ineligible as he had already used that route twice - 2016 and 2020 editions.
Harry, the highest ranked Male Swimmer in Ghana, according to World Aquatics Point Table (2024 edition), as at 23rd of June, 2024, will compete in the 100m freestyle.
This was after he attained an entry Time of 50.67 - achieved at the Africa Aquatics Swimming Championships in Luanda- Angola.
Joselle Mensah, who is the highest-ranked Female Swimmer in Ghana, will participate in the Women’s 50metres Freestyle following an entry Time of 26.52s, a time she achieved at the 13th African Games in Accra-Ghana.
Harry and Joselle impressed at the African Games in March, narrowly missing out on medals.
However, Harry secured his first medal for the country at the CANA African Championships in Angola.
The duo, making their Olympic debuts, hope to make a significant impact on their first attempt.
