Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, on Wednesday, submitted his nomination forms to contest the party's upcoming flagbearer race scheduled for January next year.
He arrived at the party’s headquarters with members of his campaign team and hundreds of enthusiastic supporters.
Mr. George Kwabena Abankwah-Yeboah, a former National Treasurer of the party, officially received the nomination forms.
Addressing his supporters, Dr. Acheampong appealed to party faithful across the country to avoid personal attacks and divisive language as the NPP prepares for its internal leadership contest.

He also expressed deep gratitude to his supporters, many of whom had travelled long distances to show their solidarity.
He reminded his followers that the unity and reputation of the NPP must remain paramount.
“My supporters from north to south, east to west must shy away from comments and commentaries that smear individuals and ultimately affect the fortunes of our party,” he said.

Dr. Acheampong's nomination has garnered significant support from the NPP's youth wing, who believe in his ability to unite the party and lead it to victory in the 2028 general elections.
However, the flagbearership race is expected to be highly competitive, with other notable contenders including former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and former General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.³

The NPP's primaries are scheduled for January 31, 2026, and Dr. Acheampong's campaign team, led by Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, is focused on showcasing his competence, unity, and results-driven approach to secure the party's nomination.
