Members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Thursday, August 6, took to the streets of Accra to protest what they describe as 'Democracy Under Attack.'
The demonstrators, clad in red and black, carried placards bearing the hashtags #DemocracyUnderAttack, #SaveGhanaNow, and #SayNoToStateCapture.
Supporters from the NPP joined the 'Democracy Under Attack' demonstration as the party highlighted what it describes as threats to Ghana's democratic space.
The demonstrators marched from the Supreme Court and ended at the Jubilee House with placards bearing messages such as “Protect Our Democracy,” “Stop Intimidation,” and “Let the Will of the People Prevail.“
Party executives, MPs, and supporters joined the protest, accusing the government of undermining democratic institutions, press freedom, and the rule of law.
