This Saturday's edition of JoyNews' Newsfile will be turning the spotlight on three major national issues. First, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is calling on judges and the Ghana Bar Association to resist attempts to remove the Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkonoo.
The show's panellists will also examine the NPP's much-talked-about 2024 election defeat report, as the Director of Communications for the party, Richard Ahiagba, has stated that the party will not make public the findings of the report.
What does the party’s internal analysis reveal about why it lost the election, and what lessons are being drawn as it seeks to rebuild?
Finally, Newsfile will probe the government’s intensified clampdown on illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey. With numerous raids and arrests taking place, the big question remains: why is there no state of emergency declared, despite the scale of the problem and calls from various Civil Society Organisations for the president to declare a state of emergency on water bodies and forest reserves?
