The Western North Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has arrested five suspects believed to be members of a gang responsible for most robberies in and around Sefwi Bekwai, following several weeks of investigation and intelligence operations.

Speaking at a press briefing, Western North Regional Police Commander DCOP Dr. Francis Tsidi said the operation underscores the Police Service’s commitment to combating crime and maintaining security, law, and order in the region.
The arrests were made during a patrol in Sefwi Wiawso and surrounding communities on December 3.

According to the Ghana Police Service, the suspects were on an unregistered motorcycle and failed to stop when ordered to do so, prompting a pursuit and subsequent arrest. Interrogation of three of the suspects led to the apprehension of the remaining two.
A search of their residence uncovered additional items, including talismans and face masks.
All five suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations, and have been remanded for two weeks.
The Police have cautioned that anyone involved in criminal activities will be identified, pursued, and brought to justice.
