The Bono Regional Police Command has opened an investigation into a robbery and murder incident that occurred at Frimps Filling Station in Abesim, located within the Sunyani East Municipality.
In a statement issued on October 7 by Bono Regional Command Public Relations Officer Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the law enforcement agency said the incident, which took place in the early hours of October 6, 2025, led to the tragic death of a security guard identified as Akwasi Addai, believed to be in his late sixties.
Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was discovered lying lifeless on the porch near a shop at the filling station, having sustained severe head injuries.
A crime scene management team recovered an axe and a club, both stained with blood, at the location.
The police noted that further investigations have revealed that the perpetrators broke into an office used for electricity power sales and mobile money transactions, making away with an undisclosed amount of money.
The manager’s office was also ransacked, and the robbers reportedly attempted to force open a safe but were unsuccessful.
The body of the deceased has since been transported to the Sunyani Teaching Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The Bono Regional Police Command assured the public that all efforts are being made to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
The police are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in their investigations.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and vigilant as the investigation continues.
