The Ghana Police Service has refuted allegations made by the Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia.
In the video circulating on social media, Mr. Nketia claimed that the Accra Regional Police Commander, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), and the Inspector-General of Police had informed him that the arrest of three individuals for possession of firearms at Ofaakor in the Awutu Senya East Constituency was conducted under "orders from above."
The police have denied these claims, describing them as "false and without any bases."

According to a June 9 statement, the officers mentioned in the video have not made any such pronouncements at any time.
"We would like to categorically state that the claims are false and without any bases. None of the officers mentioned in the video has at any point in time made any such pronouncement," the communique clarified.
The police said the three suspects were apprehended after a Pump Action gun with four rounds of ammunition was discovered in their vehicle at the Electoral Commission's offices in Ofaakor, Awutu Senya East constituency.
The suspects have since been cautioned and granted bail.
The Ghana Police Service further reiterated its commitment to upholding the law and ensuring public safety, urging the public to disregard the unfounded claims made in the video.
