Police officers stationed at a barrier in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region have intercepted a white Volvo FM truck suspected of transporting dried leaves believed to be marijuana, following repeated attempts by the occupants to obstruct a lawful search.
The incident occurred on Monday, December 29, 2025, when officers stopped the vehicle, a white Volvo FM truck bearing registration number GC 3522-F9.
According to information obtained by Adom News, the truck was allegedly carrying a consignment of suspected illicit substances concealed as dry leaves.

Sources said officers requested to inspect the vehicle but were met with resistance from the driver and other occupants. The situation reportedly escalated when the occupants allegedly attempted to bribe the officers to abandon the search.
The alleged bribe offers were reportedly made in stages—first GHS 1,000, then GHS 2,000, and finally GHS 5,000—but were firmly rejected.
When the alleged bribery attempts failed, the driver and his associates reportedly abandoned the truck and fled into nearby bushland, leaving the vehicle at the barrier.
The truck has since been moved to the Nkwanta South Divisional Command, where it remains under 24-hour police guard as investigations continue.
A police source confirmed that officers successfully foiled the suspected smuggling attempt and assured the public that due process would be followed.
Authorities said updates would be provided as developments unfold and urged residents to cooperate with law enforcement by providing credible information to support investigations.
