Rabito Clinic Limited, premier private healthcare facility in the country has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the Ghana Association of Doctors in Residency (GADOR) to fight Covid-19.

The GADOR will help distribute these PPEs to over 50 healthcare facilities across the country.

The PPEs are to be distributed to frontline health workers in over 50 facilities across the nation.

The Association has already started distributing some of the PPEs they’ve received and facilities such as Tamale Teaching Hospital has benefitted from the PPEs.

Some of the targeted health care facilities targeted are Ridge Hospital, Tema General Hospitals, Ga East District Hospital and the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH)

Also targeted are the Kumasi South Hospital, all teaching hospitals as well as all regional hospitals and community hospitals across the country.

Some items to be distributed include examination gloves – 4,000 pieces, surgical facemasks - 2,500 pieces, N95 facemasks – 800 pieces, protective gowns – 230 pieces, goggles – 200 pieces, coveralls – 100 pieces and hand sanitizers – 3,000 pieces

This action is taken by the Clinic forms part of its commitment to support government and all other stakeholders' fight against Covid-19.

The Chief Executive Officer of Rabito Clinic, Karen Hendrickson said the donation to frontline workers is to ensure they work very effectively.

“We recognize that the ladies and gentle on the frontline are putting themselves at great risk so we want make sure that they are able to care for our citizens without fear of infecting themselves” she noted.

The Rabito CEO is confident its donation will go a long way to ensuring that the staff of the clinics and hospitals gets the needed PPEs.

Mrs Hendrickson revealed that plans are far advanced for Rabito Clinic to get their own Covid-19 testing machines for the public.

Prof. Edmund Delle, the Founder and Chief Consultant Dermatologist of Rabito Clinic said their gesture is their widow's mite to efforts at kicking the enemy out of the country.

“The virus is no respector of race, country or gender. This is a war so we must do everything to prevent this virus from evading the who country” he stated.

Prof Delle was also a founder Chairman of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) appealed to politician to put their difference aside and help government win the COVID-19 war.

“This is the time Ghanaians should show, we are one united family. Political distinctions done come in” he stressed.

Prof Delle appealed to philanthropists and organizations to donate because it is a clarion call on duty “so come and be counted”.

On her part, the General Secretary of GADOR, Dr. Florence Akomea who received the items and assured it will be used judiciously.

She urged other organisations especially in the health sector to emulate the Rabito example.

Rabito Clinic has urged encourage all its staff members, patients and stakeholders to practice social distancing, staying at home and handwashing amongst other recommended safety measures in keeping themselves and families safe.

To support this effort, the clinic has halted operations at most of its 16 branches across the country, with only the Osu, Kumasi, Sunyani and Tamale branches operating reduced hours of 10 am to 2 pm, from Monday to Saturday.
