Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has paid tribute to the late wife of the former Vice President Ramatu Mahama, who died aged 70.
In a tweet, Dr Bawumia indicated that the death of the wife of former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama has left him saddened.
"l will miss her dearly," he stated.
The Vice President revealed that the late Ramatu Mahama was like a mother to him, one who inspired him in his many undertakings.
"Inaa lillah wa inaa ilaihi raji-un I have learnt with sadness the passing of H.E. Hajia Rahmatu Mahama, former 2nd Lady of the Republic. Hajia Rahmatu was a loving mother and a great source of inspiration to me. I will miss her dearly. May Allah grant her Jannatul Firdaus," he wrote.

Also, Dr Bawumia prayed for her eternal repose, stating that "May Allah grant her Jannatul Firdaus".
The Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has also commiserated with the bereaved family.
"Our condolences to the Aliu Mahama family, the people of Yendi and the entire nation on the loss of Hajia. May Allah grant her rest," he tweeted.

Mrs Ramatu Mahama passed away on Thursday, April 7.
Her son, Farouk Mahama who doubles as Yendi legislator confirmed that she died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
According to him, the burial and funeral rites would be conducted in accordance with Islamic traditions.
