Three individuals have been reported dead, and many others injured following a resurgence of violence in Nkwanta, located in Ghana’s Oti Region.
The clashes, which began on Wednesday, 16 January, continued into Thursday night, leaving the community in a state of fear and uncertainty.
Eyewitnesses describe scenes of chaos as violent confrontations erupted between unidentified groups.
Sporadic gunfire was reportedly heard throughout the night, further escalating tensions in the area. Residents remain on edge as the situation shows little sign of abating.
As of now, it is unclear whether security forces have been deployed to the area to restore order.
The renewed violence has disrupted daily life in Nkwanta, with businesses closing and families retreating indoors to ensure their safety.
Community leaders have called for immediate intervention from authorities to prevent further loss of life and to address the underlying causes of the conflict.
The latest clashes mark a troubling escalation in the region, which has experienced periods of unrest in the past.
Stakeholders are urging swift action to restore calm and foster dialogue among the parties involved to ensure long-term peace in the community.
