Public Relations Officer of the Northern Regional Police Command, DSP Mohammed Yussif Tanko told Joy News the police are on a manhunt for more suspects in relation to the disturbances which included arson.
“Reinforcement has also been sent and we are doing everything possible to ensure more suspects are arrested,” he assured.

The youth also tore down billboards and campaign posts of the NPP.
“The place is burning down, people are throwing stones and all manner of things,” an eye witness told Joy News.
The protesters argued that the people of Salaga South showed faith in the NPP by voting for the party’s parliamentary candidate, Salifu Adam Braimah as Parliamentarian.
They said the choice of Damongo which voted for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Adam Mutawakilu, was a betrayal of their loyalty to the NPP.
DSP Tanko urged the people of Salaga “to remain calm and not to take the law into their own hands.”
“…Anyone that does anything to disturb the peace would be dealt with decisively by the combined team of the police and military,” he added.
