The Government says it has settled the 31 days' arrears owed to caterers under the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) for the first term of the 2024/2025 academic year.
The payment was made through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP), which oversees the GSFP.
In a statement signed by Hajia Fati Forgor, National Coordinator of the GSFP, the GSFP Secretariat commended the Government for the timely release of funds to cover the outstanding arrears.
The Secretariat noted that the payment reaffirms the Government’s commitment to supporting the programme and ensuring its continued success.
It added that efforts are currently underway to restructure the School Feeding Programme to align with the government’s plan to decentralise operations, improve food quality, and guarantee timely payments to caterers.
The GSFP Secretariat also expressed appreciation to donor partners for their ongoing support and collaboration, which it said are essential to sustaining the initiative.
