Subah Infosolutions Ghana Limited, one of Ghana’s leading IT and telecommunications solution provider, has saved the Government of Guinea millions of dollars from SIM box fraud. Simbox Fraud is an illegal scheme where fraudsters divert international calls into local calls leading to the loss of huge national revenues.
The Guinean government through her Telecoms Regulatory Agency, ARPT, contracted Subah Infosolutions to perform an investigation to detect and locate these suspected fraudulent SIM Box devices operating on the network of operators in Guinea.
The government hearing of the great job SUBAH did for Ghana between 2014 to 2017 invited the company to come and assist as the Mobile Network Operators in Guinea were experiencing revenue loss due to fraudulent and unauthorized diversion of International voice calls through SIM Box equipment on various telecommunication mobile network SIM Cards.
After a one-month technical and very thorough investigations, Subah (through an implemented Fraud Management System) with her local consulting agents performed this operation, which saved the Guinean government close to $1.5 million in the month of November 2019. Subah’s intervention saved the Guinean Government a total of 7,747,992 million dollars from January 2019 to November 2019.
Mr Eric Nyarko-Aboagye, Chief Operating Officer of the Subah Group, indicated that the Guinean contract is a testament to the fact that Subah Infosolutions has what it takes to provide Revenue Assurance and Audit across Africa.
“We continue to build higher competencies in cybersecurity and have all the necessary equipment to assist African governments to mobilise resources for critical national development,” he added.
He reiterated that Subah’s solution does not only reduce revenue leakage but it also stops fraudsters from siphoning revenue from the state. “
It will be recalled that Subah’s Revenue Monitoring Assurance and Tax Monitoring System (RATMS) in Ghana saved the nation 43 million dollars between 2014 and 2017 as the system ensures that government and other state agencies get hold of the taxes, they are entitled to from telecommunication operators.
The RATMS is a rigorous system that enables tax authorities to accelerate tax collection via a distributed and scalable multi-threaded architecture configuration that supports multi-vendor and technology networks.
In 2017, Subah Infosolutions was adjudged the “Best Revenue Assurance, Fraud & Traffic Monitoring Solution” provider at the 4th Annual Africa Telecoms Fraud, Revenue Assurance and Risk Management Forum in Kenya.
