Residents of the Tano North Municipality have expressed overwhelming support for the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Pius Opoku, citing a surge in infrastructure development since he took office in April 2025.
The commendation came during a project inspection tour led by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Wing of the Tano North constituency.
The team visited several sites to monitor progress on health, education, and water projects, most of which were found to be between 72% and 84% complete.

In Nsuapemkrom, local farmer Esther Abankwa noted that the community’s first-ever CHPS compound will end decades of hardship for residents particularly pregnant women who traveled long distances for basic medical care.
Under health, the team inspected ongoing Construction and furnishing of CHPS Compounds with Nurses’ Quarters at
Nsuapimkrom and Ahyiayem communities, and Construction of a four-bedroom Doctor’s Bungalow to improve specialized care in Tanoso Health Center:
On education, the tour highlighted a significant push to modernize schools. At Bomaa Islamic Junior High School, students Amadu Mohammed and Ayisatu Seidu shared their relief that a new 3-unit classroom block and toilet facility will soon replace their current "classroom" under a mango tree.
In Kotwee, a community leader expressed optimism that their first-ever local school (85% complete) would soon spare children the dangerous daily task of crossing a river to reach classes in Tanomu.
Other Key Educational Projects Underway include a 3-unit classroom blocks with 4-seater toilet facilities and new furniture, a 3-unit classroom block with KVIP and furniture in Bomaa Islamic JHS and Bomaa Presby JHS and a 2-unit standard Kindergarten block with 4-seater toilet facility in Kotwee

Michael Peprah, the Deputy Youth Organizer for Tano North and leader of the inspection team, emphasized that development transcends partisan lines.
"Political parties are key stakeholders in the national agenda. The Municipal Assembly cannot do it alone; ensuring a quality livelihood for our residents is a shared responsibility," Mr. Peprah stated.
He further praised President John Mahama for the appointment of Mr. Opoku, noting that the strategic use of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) has brought visible relief to the municipality.
Mr. Peprah expressed confidence that with three years remaining in the MCE's tenure, Tano North is on track for unprecedented economic empowerment. He urged all stakeholders to support the Assembly to ensure these projects are completed to the highest standards.
