A teacher, Foster Amankona from Berekum is reported to have allegedly butchered a man at Mpatasie, a suburb of Berekum in the Bono Region.
Information reaching JoyNews reveals that the deceased, Francis Opoku visited the home of Foster Amankoa on Monday morning to claim some money owed him.
The interaction between the two, according to eyewitnesses, was hostile resulting in the attack on Francis' arm and the head with a knife by Foster.
Francis Yaw Opoku was pronounced dead few moments after he was rushed to the Berekum Holy Family Hospital.
An eyewitness who spoke with Adom News Correspondent, Dominic Donyina provided a vivid account of the unfortunate event.
"Around 7 or 8 in the morning, I was washing some clothes with my children when Francis came for his money. Everyone had left to the farm. The teacher then told Francis that he was just a witness and is not a part of those to receive the money. But Francis said he was part of those we went to get the money so why was he now excluded.
"This was not an argument that should have led to bloodshed. So I was watching them then the teacher entered his kitchen and took a knife and hit the shoulder of Francis. When Francis went on his knees, he then hit him on the head.
He further told Adom News that; "I started screaming for help after seeing what had happened. The teacher then entered his room, placed the weapon down and picked up a shirt and left."
Meanwhile, Berekum District Police Commander, DSP Andrews Okonengye has indicated that a dispatched team is on a manhunt for the suspect, Foster Amankona.
He, therefore, urged residents in the locality to furnish the police with the whereabouts of the suspect.
The remains of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue for autopsy.
