Telecel Ghana Foundation’s Rural Ultrasound initiative has made its way to the Upper West Akim District in the Eastern Region, offering free ultrasound screening for pregnant women.
The initiative, which is part of the Foundation’s Connected Health programmes, reached 82 women in Abamkrom and 127 women in Odumkyere Darmang, all in the Upper West Akim District of the Eastern Region.
The initiative offers a vital lifeline, providing essential prenatal care through ultrasound screenings, while simultaneously equipping these women with invaluable knowledge on optimal nutrition for a healthy pregnancy.
By detecting potential complications early, Telecel Ghana Foundation is helping reduce maternal and infant mortality rates, giving these mothers a fighting chance for healthy pregnancies and deliveries.
This initiative is a significant stride towards achieving SDG goal 3.1: reducing the global maternal mortality ratio.
This comprehensive approach empowers women to take charge of their health and that of their unborn children, fostering healthier communities and a brighter future for generations to come.

"Proper prenatal nutrition is a cornerstone of a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery," said Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson, Head of Foundation, Sustainability, and External Communications at Telecel Ghana.
“Our Rural Ultrasound initiative is designed to be holistic, focusing on the immediate well-being of both mother and baby while also providing crucial education on how to avoid potential complications during pregnancy.”
Beyond providing ultrasound scans, the initiative emphasises educating women about pregnancy health, fostering awareness, and promoting proactive healthcare management.
By identifying potential complications early, the Telecel Ghana Foundation aims to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates and support healthier pregnancies and births.
Telecel Ghana Foundation’s Rural Ultrasound Initiative exemplifies their commitment to enhancing lives. By prioritising healthcare interventions, the foundation expects to see even more positive outcomes, benefiting numerous women and families in the future.
