The outgoing President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, welcomed the President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, to the Flagstaff House for a familiarisation tour on Monday, 6th January, ahead of the inauguration ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, 7th January 2025.
The visit aimed to ensure a smooth transition process as the formal handover ceremony approaches.
During the meeting, President Akufo-Addo expressed his full support for the incoming President-elect, guiding him on a tour of the Jubilee House as preparations were made for the transfer of government responsibilities.
“The country is waiting for you tomorrow, so you’re welcome, another Vice President-elect, you are welcome,” President Akufo-Addo said.
Also accompanying the President-elect was the Vice President-elect, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, who took the opportunity to familiarise herself with the facilities and environment of her forthcoming official workspace.
Mr Mahama seized the occasion to express his heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing President and praised the smooth transition process.
“I want to thank you and your side of the transition, Chief of Staff, for what has been a cordial and smooth transition. We are quite ready with the information we have to start working immediately after we finish the inauguration tomorrow” he stated.
Mr Mahama further assured the President of his commitment to good governance and cooperation in the coming days.
“You can count on us even in government that we will continue the spirit of cooperation,” he concluded.
