The Tema Regional Police Command has secured the conviction of two men involved in a robbery and rape incident that occurred on September 27, 2025, at Okushibli, along the Apollonia–Afienya road.
Police investigations revealed that the 19-year-old victim, a hairdresser, had hired a motorbike rider, Nicholas Tetteh, to take her to Afienya. Along the journey, Tetteh allegedly conspired with two others, including Joseph Tetteh, to attack her.
The suspects reportedly dragged the victim into a bush, where she was sexually assaulted by two of the men. They also robbed her of an iPhone XR and a handbag containing GH₵150.00.
The police in a statement noted that the matter was reported to the Zenu–Atadeka District Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), where the victim was issued a medical report form and received treatment while investigations continued.
"The two accused persons, Nicholas Tetteh and Joseph Tetteh, were arraigned before the Gbetsile Circuit Court presided over by His Ladyship Eleanor Kakra Barn Botchway.
"They pleaded guilty to the robbery charge and were each sentenced to fifteen years' imprisonment in hard labour.
"They will also be arraigned before the Court for the rape charge when advice is received from the Attorney-General's Office," the statement noted.
The police assured the public of their continued commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining public safety.
