The University of Ghana will commence its end of semester exams from Wednesday, August 25, following the suspension of the strike by the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG).

The University was scheduled to begin its exams on August 7, but the industrial action declared by lecturers forced the management of the school to suspend the examinations indefinitely.

The University Teachers Association of Ghana declared a strike action on August 2, to demand improved conditions of service.

The lecturers wanted government to implement a 2012 single spine salary agreement that pegged the salary of entry-level lecturers at $2,084.

UTAG has since suspended the action for a mandatory one month period to continue negotiations with government.

But in a circular to the University community via email, Director of the Academic Affairs Directorate of University of Ghana, Lydia Anowa Nyako-Danquah, noted that "Following the notice from UTAG of the suspension of the withdrawal of teaching and related activities by members, it has been decided by the Business and Executive Committee that the main examinations for the Second Semester of the 2020/2021 Academic Year (Level 100 and 400 batches) should resume from Wednesday, August 25th, 2021."

The circular also attached the timetable for the upcoming examination.
