The University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) and PharmAccess Foundation have launched a new digital service, NCD Care.
It took place on Thursday, April 27, 2023.
The innovation will provide digital healthcare services to reduce the rising morbidity and mortality rates of non-communicable diseases in the country and the sub-region.
It will also give people the option of self-management via their phones where they can enter their daily measurements without going to the hospital. These readings will be monitored by medical officers in real time and enable them to provide timely advice.
NCD Care is the first digital service of its kind in Ghana and is proving to be not only timesaving but also helpful in reducing the frequency of hospital visits and providing tips for healthy living.
The introduction of this digital service is a revolutionary advancement in the traditional management of diabetes and hypertension.
Patients are now able to conveniently access tools on their phones to monitor their daily measurements no matter where they are, while medical officers can provide remote care in real-time.
Not only does this save time and reduce the need for hospital visits, but it also gives both the patient and the doctor greater insight and can even provide daily tips for a healthier lifestyle.
This service is the first of its kind in Ghana, providing enhanced access to healthcare for those affected by these conditions.
