The Black Starlets are back in Ghana following their impressive campaign at the 2025 WAFU B U17 Boys Championship in Cote d'Ivoire.
The team touched down in Accra in the early hours of Sunday to a warm reception from management members and officials of the Football Association (GFA).
The Starlets, led by head coach Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum, were applauded for their outstanding performance throughout the tournament, which saw them qualify for the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be staged in Morocco.
The team displayed quality, discipline, and determination, culminating in a silver-medal finish after a spirited run to the final.
Officials from the GFA’s Executive Council were present at the team’s hotel to welcome the contingent, commending the players and technical staff for restoring hope and pride to Ghanaian youth football.
In recognition of their stellar showing, both the technical team and the players received undisclosed but substantial financial rewards from the GFA.
The players and staff expressed gratitude for the Association’s support and pledged to continue working hard ahead of the continental showpiece. Their return marks the beginning of Ghana’s preparations for another major youth football chapter as the Starlets aim to make a strong statement at next year’s AFCON.
