France star Kylian Mbappe has broken his silence, nearly 24 hours after France lost the FIFA World Cup final to Argentina in Doha.

The 23 year old scored a hat-trick on the day, the first time a player has scored World Cup final hat-trick since Geof Hurst in 1966, but his efforts were not enough as France eventually succumbed to the South Americans in the shoot-out following a pulsating 3-3 draw in in Doha.

Mbappe's efforts ultimately earned him the Silver Ball, awarded to the second best player of the competition, behind Lionel Messi, but his 8 goals earned him the Golden Boot Award.

The Paris St. Germain star took to twitter and instagram to post a photo with the caption "Nou reviendrons", which translates to "We will be back".

He has now netted 12 goals in the two World Cups he has played in, putting him level with Pele.

Only five male players have scored more World Cup goals than Mbappe, and he is just four goals behind Germany's Miroslav Klose who currently sits top of the list.

The French forward could go past Klose at the next World Cup, and he will still only be 27 when the tournament is played in North America.

France have made four of the last seven World Cup finals, winning two and losing two, highlighting that they have been one of the best sides in world football for some time.
