Tailor and actor, Elikem Kumordzie, has taken to Instagram to share lessons he learnt after being in a marriage and subsequently getting divorced.
According to him, he has learnt to be more patient, listen more and work as much as possible, to make his relationships work.
“It took being out of marriage divorce to realize that. If you stay focused in your business, you milk it. Once you stop fighting for what you want, what you do not want comes in,” Elikem told KOD during an Instagram live.
Elikem in June 2015 married Pokello Nare from Zimbabwe whom he had met on season eight of the Big brother Africa reality show.
The two had a son but got divorced later in 2018.
While sharing his story, the celebrated tailor said people in relationships facing challenges tend to focus more negatives than the positive things they have and continue to achieve.
Elikem explained that highlighting good milestones and good things in the relationship helps the couple grow while they handle the ugly side.
“When you draw on the bad you only bring more bad,” he said.
Elikem Kumordzie added, he only realises now that he probably was not ready for marriage at the age he tied the knot with Pokello although he was in love and fully committed.
