The Savannah Regional branch of the ruling New Patriotic Party has refuted allegations of trying to register ineligible applicants in the ongoing registration exercise.
The party said the allegation of attacks, discrimination and busing of unqualified people to various registration centres is a ploy adopted by the opposition the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to dent its reputation.
The Regional Communications Officer, Issah Mohammed, at a press briefing on Wednesday further described the accusations as "baseless and unfortunate amidst lies and inconsistency."
He then stressed, “The incoming MP for Damango, Samuel Abu Jinapor is the reason the NDC in Damango always claim they have issues with us. He is the sole reason for the charade they staged yesterday."

Mr Mohammed expressed shock over complaints of the NDC that the Electoral Commission is not registering more persons in the Region.
He said the NDC are confused since in the same statement of complaints was inconsistent with the numbers that they annouced.
“Let me advise the Savannah Region NDC that elections are not won in the media and from Accra. The job is and has always been on the ground. Let them come down with us on the ground.
“Every single potential voter who hails from the Savannah Region and or is eligible to register and vote in the Region must make it a point to come out and register. No one would be left behind in this exercise. The empty rants of the warbling NDC must be disregarded.”
