Former Black Stars striker Mathew Amoah says he has been impressed with the contribution of Christian Atsu to the success of the Ghana national team and Vitesse Arnhem.

The playmaker, 21, was snapped up by Chelsea in the Summer of 2013, after the English club reportedly paid FC Porto £2.5m for him, but the Blues immediately loaned the midfielder to the Dutch club, Vitesse.

“I think Atsu is a very strong player, even if he is still very young,” the 33-year-old told Sports Xtra.

“He’s good dribbler, very quick and posses some very good technique.

“He has a great future ahead of him in my opinion and he will help Ghana at the World Cup."

Amoah who spent his career at Dutch clubs, including NAC Breda and SC Heerenveen, believes Atsu's Vitesse can break Ajax's dominance in the Dutch League this season.

“The Dutch League is very competitive this year, I believe Vitesse can stop Ajax's dominance. They are a good side,” added the man who netted 13 goals in 13 appearances for Ghana.

Atsu has starred in his first five games for the Dutch side and has scored one goal so far.

Vitesse lead the Netherlands league by 30 points, two points clear of Ajax.
