Fifteen people have died and four others have sustained injuries in a tragic accident on the Juaso-Nkawkaw stretch of the Accra-Kumasi highway.
Among those dead are the children of the Head Pastor of the Church in Obogu.
According to Mr. Kofi Baah, an elder of the Obogu Saviour Church, the accident involved a fuel tanker. He told Adom News that the victims were members of the church youth group.

The mangled Ford Transit bus at the scene
“The children left for a religious retreat at Koforidua on Friday for a congress. We were home when we received distress call of the accident involving members of our youth ministry. We rushed to Juaso Hospital only to witness this mass casualty. While some parents’ lost two children, some have lost three of their children,’ an elder of the church, Kofi Baah told Adom FM’s reporter, Isaac Amoako.
“Fifteen bodies are at the mortuary while 4 other critically injured are on admission at the Emergency Unit. Among those dead are the two children of our Pastor”. He said.

Reports say an oncoming fuel tanker travelling from the Kumasi-Accra direction collided head-on with the Ford Transit bus transporting the youth after it burst a tyre while overtaking a vehicle ahead of it at about 2 p.m on Tuesday.
Emergency response teams from the Juaso Motor Traffic and Transport Directorate (MTTD), Ambulance Service, and the Ghana National Fire Service from Konongo and Juaso responded swiftly to the scene to attend to the victims aged between 4 and 21-years.
The accident has turned the Obogu Township into a state of mourning.
