Yaa Asantewaa Girls Senior High School has emerged winner of the 2023 Onga Cook Art competition.
Five schools, namely Yaa Asantewaa Girls' SHS, Nalerigu SHS, Boakye Tromo SHS, Ghana SHS, Koforidua SHS, and Kadjebi-Asato SHS, battled it out to book a slot at the national championship.
The competition started with an oral test where contestants exhibited their knowledge of home economics.
After that, an hour was allocated to each school to demonstrate their culinary skills with a mystery basket containing different ingredients.

Expectations were high as the quiz mistress, Lily-Versta Nyarko, ushered contestants into the kitchen by outlining the rules of the contest.
Each school was expected to meet an overall score of 100 from the two parts of the competition. 50:50 marks from both segments of the contest, respectively.
The judge, Helene Kudovor, who is the Western Regional Chairperson of the Chefs Association of Ghana, paid much attention to the preparation of the tasks given to each school.
At the end of the contest, Yaa Asantewaa Girls' SHS won with a score line of 76.5 percent, which was closely followed by Ghana SHS with 75.5 percent.

Kadjebi-Asato SHS came third with 58.5 per cent, Boakye Tromo SHS came fourth with 41.5 points, whereas Nalerigu SHS from the Northern Region was fifth.
Before the declaration of the winner, the quiz mistress revealed that, "Personally, I wanted Eastern to win, but the judges have spoken."
Yaa Asantewaa Girls' SHS has qualified for the grand finale of the championship to battle with other zonal champions for a prize of GH₵20,000.00.
