GoldStars secured a hard-fought 3-2 win over Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park in Berekum on sunday, June 1, 2025.
Stephen Amankona gave the home side an early lead in the 8th minute, finishing off a sharp move to put Berekum Chelsea ahead.
However, the visitors responded quickly. Foster Agyei leveled the score in the 13th minute with a composed finish to make it 1-1.
Gold Stars seized control of the game with two quick goals from Abdul Farouk Amoaful in the 23rd and 25th minutes, giving the visitors a 3-1 lead before halftime.
The second half maintained its competitive tempo, with both sides pressing for goals. Berekum Chelsea intensified their efforts in search of a comeback, but Gold Stars’ disciplined defense held firm.
Despite their struggles, Berekum Chelsea managed to pull one back in the 81st minute, narrowing the deficit to 3-2. However, it proved too little, too late.
With this victory, Gold Stars climb to 2nd place on the league table with 60 points, level with Nations FC, who remain top due to superior goal difference.
Berekum Chelsea, meanwhile, remain in 12th place with 41 points.
