Christopher Bonsu Baah has quickly become a household name following his standout displays for Ghana at last month’s Unity Cup in London.
The 20-year-old Genk forward impressed on his senior debut against Nigeria and thrilled fans with his attacking flair in the subsequent match against Trinidad and Tobago.
His performances have sparked growing confidence that he could play a crucial role in Ghana’s push for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With the Black Stars sitting atop their qualifying group on 15 points and four matches remaining, Bonsu Baah remains confident in the team’s ability to book a ticket to the tournament in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
"I think it will not mean a lot to only me, for my family and for the nation—everyone—because Ghana qualifying to the World Cup is something big for the nation,” Baah told Joy Sports.
"Not only us but every country, when you hear or when you see like you are in the World Cup, it is something big for everyone, so I think it will mean a lot for us.
"We are 100% confident that we are going to qualify. For me, I think it's every player's dream to be part of the national team squad to the World Cup.
"But as I said, when you focus on those things, you cannot perform; you just have to trust the process one after the other.
"Now I go to my club and I focus on my club and I give all to my club, and we will see what will come next."
Bonsu Baah’s full interview with Joy Sports’ Adamu Benin Abdul Karim will air on the Joy News Channel on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 6:30 AM and 8:30 PM. https://podcasts.meduniwien.ac.at/
