The Ghana School of Law has revealed intentions to expand legal education to train more lawyers and other judicial officers to improve the administration of justice.
Director of the School, Barima Yaw Kodie Oppong, says partnerships will also be explored to provide scholarship opportunities for students and lecturers.
He was speaking at the induction of 84 students into the Ghana School of Law, Kumasi campus on Friday.
Barima Yaw Kodie Oppong, highlighted intentions to expand legal education and increase opportunities for legal students and trainers.
“We are partnering institutions outside the jurisdiction of Ghana to provide scholarship opportunities for our students and lecturers” he indicated.
Eighty-four students were inducted to commence academic studies to become lawyers.
The ceremony saw justices of the Supreme Court, the Kumasi High Court, representatives of the Ghana Bar Association as well as students of the GSL in attendance.
Chief Justice Anin Yeboah admonished the inductees to uphold the ethics and dignity in the legal profession in high esteem.
“Legal education has not been easy anywhere in the world, especially in the western world. Please don't take it likely. Don't think because you are a pharmacist the law profession is going to be easy for you” he said.
Acting Dean of Faculty of Law, KNUST, Dr. Chris Adomako Kwakye, admonished the students to uphold professionalism in their line of duty.
“Students must learn to work ethically. There needs to be more than just knowing the rules to prepare for more professional ethical dilemmas” he touted.
