A week of talks aimed at finding a solution to the secessionist rebellion in Cameroon's English-speaking regions has ended amid accusations that the whole exercise was undermined by the lack of a neutral mediator and a refusal to consider demands to move towards a federal system.
President Paul Biya says the suggestions that came out of the dialogue will be considered - these include a call to allow people in the Anglophone areas to vote for their own local officials.
On Thursday, he ordered the release of more than 300 prisoners but the move has failed to appease separatists and moderates who say thousands more are locked up on trumped-up charges.
