Paramount chief of Kusaug Traditional area has issued a statement banning all funerals, weddings, spinnings and any kind of gatherings in the area.
Zugraana Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II's order is in response to government's directive on measures to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country.
He said this has become necessary because the town and surrounding areas share a border with Togo and Burkina Faso and therefore his people are likely vulnerable.
Abugrago Azoka II further emphasised that issues raised by government to deal with the pandemic were of immediate concern to the traditional area.
"This is the time we celebrate funerals and other related activities hence the need to deal with the matter Squarely."
He charged his divisional chiefs in the Kusaug Traditional area to spread the message in their respective communities and deal with all their hearts and minds.
Naba Azoka also appealed to the security agencies within his jurisdiction to assist the various Municipal and District Assemblies to enforce the ban until further notice.
Municipal and the District Assemblies have also been asked to resource media personnel to disseminate appropriate information at various market squares for residents to understand and comply.
The paramount queen mother of the area, Veronica Abugrago I, also cautioned women to be extra vigilant because they are more vulnerable.
She has tasked queen mothers in the various markets to take the matter and make sure every woman is well informed.
