Agartha market, a Koforidua-based market is not observing the Social distancing protocol.
In addition, the market, which is the trading hub for foodstuffs brought from across the region for sale, has no handwashing stations.
Hundreds of people who patronised the place every Monday and Thursday to either sell or buy foodstuffs stand the risk of being infected with COVID-19 in the event that those they interacted with had the disease.
Most people GNA interacted with on Thursday expressed worry over the situation and the risk it posed to the public in spreading the coronavirus.
Madam Yaa Afrah, a trader told GNA that they do not have access to water or soap to wash their hands.
She said with social distancing, there was no space to observe it so they used the face masks instead.
She appealed for handwashing stations at the market to enable them wash their hands frequently.
Madam Joyce Tiwa, a public servant told GNA that, the situation was worrying considering the fact that the region had recorded a number of the coronavirus cases and called on the assembly to institute measures to reduce the congestion.
