Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has dispelled claims that he pays people to give him information.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with JoyNews’ Mamavi Owusu-Aboagye, the business mogul said people voluntarily give him information and he on the other hand, decides whether or not to give them money.
“Some people willingly bring me information but the reason is that, they do not have confidence in the system, they have confidence in me.
“I don’t give money [for information], I can decide to dash you money,” he stressed.
The controversial MP further insisted that anyone who demands for money from him before giving him information ends up getting nothing.
“This morning somebody came from Suhum, he is going back and I give him about GHS1,000.00 for transport. I know that the transportation from here [Accra] to Suhum is not even GHS50.00. So GHS1,000.00 means a lot to him, it doesn’t mean anything to me but I cherish the information that he has given me,” he narrated.
“But if the he comes from Suhum to tell me, ‘give me GHS1, 000.00 or GHS2,000.00, I have information for you.’ I will give you a slap and walk you out of my place.”
Mr Agyapong has recently been involved in a feud with the founder of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim after the MP sought to expose the ‘shady’ dealings of the Pastor on his television station Net 2 TV.
In a series of programmes, the MP accused the Bishop of forgery, manipulation, money laundering among others which recently led to the arrest of Obinim.
The preacher has subsequently been released on bail after spending three nights in police cells.
