A former Deputy Tourism Minister has praised the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for being an open-minded person with a listening ear.
Dzifa Abla Gomashie who was speaking on Joy FM’s Personality Profile on Thursday said former President John Mahama during his tenure was always a great listener.
The actress cum producer told Lexis Bill that Mr Mahama gave room for his appointees to offer suggestions on critical matters of the State.
“The one thing I liked about him was that you can always whisper what you think to him and he receives it warmly.
“You don’t feel as if, you are been shunned like ‘I know what you're about to say’. He listens and you feel like you’ve been heard.
"Even if he is not able to do everything that you have said to him, you will know that you have gotten the response that you are looking for,” she said.
Speaking more about her four years as a Minister, Mrs Gomashie who is now the NDC MP for Ketu South said, her role as Deputy Minister taught her tolerance and resilience.
In her experience, there was a constant delay in processing initiatives that were put forward. It, therefore, required patience and persistence to push them through to fruition.
“Being in government taught me to be resilient and tolerant, actually. I didn’t think that I could be tolerant but I realised that oh Jack! I am not bad at all.
“I could put up with so much and I didn’t think I had it in me to be so tolerant, so I give myself a pass,” she stated.
Touching on Ghana’s Creative Arts Industry, Mrs Gomashie further noted that a lot needs to be done to get the sector back on its feet.
“I think that what we need is the structure to be complete. We started a process and I am hoping that we will be given the opportunity to come and finish what we have started.
