The National Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Peter Boamah Otokunor says the fact that the party's executives handed over their manifesto to the flagbearer on July 1 does not oblige them to launch it early.
Mr Otokunor's comments come after New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Yaw Buaben Asamoah claimed that the NDC had lost its manifesto hence the delay in its launch.
According to him, launching a manifesto early or months before an election does not guarantee a win.
“In 2016 the NPP, postponed their manifesto launch four times. They scheduled September 28, which even is a bit later, shifted to October 7, then October 8 and then finally to October 9, yet they won,” he said on Top Story.
Speaking to told Evans Mensah, the NDC Deputy General Secretary described the NPP's 2020 manifesto as empty with no highlight and added that “no one is discussing it a week after the launch”.
“It is important to mention that as part of NDC’s campaign, former President Mahama, has been speaking and making very bold and instructive policy statements which must engage the attention of all.”
Mr Otokunor said that with all the promises the flagbearer has made on his campaign trail, NDC may not need a manifesto.
Meanwhile, after postponing the launch, the NDC has set September 7 as the official day for the outdooring of the manifesto dubbed the 'People's Manifesto'.
