Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama and Former President Jerry John Rawlings have applauded Democrat, Joe Biden on his victory in the 2020 election.

This comes after he won more than 75 million votes, the most ever for a United States presidential candidate.

In two separate posts, the former Ghanaian leaders expressed their goodwill to the President elect and his deputy, Kamala Harris.

Rawlings tweeted, “Congratulations to President-Elect @JoeBiden and Vice President-Elect @KamalaHarris. The world is expectant as a new era of United States leadership dawns. We look forward to a leadership that embraces unity, compassion and maturity.”

John Mahama also eulogized the duo in a tweet that read: “Congratulations #POTUS elect @JoeBiden. Your resilience is admirable. It’s taken sheer grit and determination to chalk this victory.”

They join other world leaders who have shown support to the newly elected Joe and Kamala.

By winning this closely contested elections which results were announced after a  cliff-hanger vote count, Biden becomes the 46th President of the USA.

However, his contender, the current President of the country had falsely declared himself the winner of the election when vote counting was unfinished.

In the end, Mr. Donald John Trump has drawn almost 70 million, the second-highest tally in history.

But he insists the elections were rigged hence, his campaign team has filed a ton of lawsuits in various states. 

Joe Biden is set to return to the White House, where he previously served as Vice President under the Barack Obama government.

The 78-year-old will be the oldest President in American history, a record previously held by the man he has now defeated, 74-year-old Donald Trump.
